Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now claimed the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match between the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck twice late to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
